The Race Is On

Please join us on 16th Novermber for a very special preview of The Race is On. This Southampton-produced documentary feature emphasises the seriousness of the climate change threat, but also shows us how we can avoid its most dangerous consequences.

Presented by University of Southampton academic Dr James Dyke the film features contributions from world-leading experts on the science, policy, economics and community aspects of climate change:

Paul Allen – Zero Carbon Britain
Mike Blanch – Westmill Wind & Solar Cooperative
Kevin Anderson – Deputy Director of the Tyndall Centre for Climate Change Research
Rebecca Kinge – The Southampton Collective
Kate Raworth – University of Oxford
Gavin Schmidt – Director of the NASA Goddard Institute for Space Studies
David Sloan-Wilson – Professor of Anthropology and Biological Sciences, SUNY
Megan Streb – Sustrans

Free tickets for the event – Thursday 16th November, 7pm – are available here:

The film will be followed with a panel discussion featuring the film makers and contributors, including some homegrown talent! Complementary food and refreshments will be served.

We are very proud that The Race Is On is being shown as part of the Human Worlds Festival at the University of Southampton and also Southampton Film Week. Our ‘Green Screen’ event last year featured the Naomi Klein documentary This Changes Everything where there was lively debate and discussion around sustainability, clean air and climate change.

We hope you will bring along a friend, ask questions and share ideas. And if you need a little inspiration, read on:
